We recently took advantage of what seemed like a GREAT VALUE Groupon.co.uk offer for karting at F1K near Loughborough. The offer was for 50 laps at the hugely reduced priced of just £15 per person (usual price £48). Great, we immediately got 10 tickets and last Friday we went down to enjoy our 50 lap race.
The F1K staff were a grumpy bunch. They made it very clear that they had been swamped by the Groupon offer before we got on the track (well guys if you don't want the business, don't make the offer!). We arrived a few minutes late which we also got an earful for, but then we had to wait for 15 minutes while they prepared the karts as they weren't even ready!
Finally we got racing. After 20 minutes (about 30 laps) the race was over and we told that was the end of our session. So much for the 50 laps we had booked for. They didn't seem at all bothered that we were cut short, they just weren't interested.
In summary, although we enjoyed our karting and it was still good value for £15 each, F1K will not be seeing us again (next time we will return to Langar).
We would be interested to know if anyone else has been ripped off by F1K with this Groupon offer. We will be doing a blog about Groupon soon as the offers aren't usually as good as they seem (did you know Groupon take 40-50% of the takings?).
